Here you will see videos on how the subject-specific teacher evaluations are developed and administered. You’ll see: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History/Social Studies, and CTE Videos. By moving in this direction, evaluators can look at three main components of educators’ skill sets to include content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and pedagogical content knowledge i.e., knowledge about the content they are expected to teach, understanding comprehensive teaching approaches, and instructional routines specific to the disciplines they are teaching. A one-size-fits-all approach to instruction, assessment, and teacher evaluation is doomed for failure. We are to the point in education that what we teach at the secondary level is so specific that teaching approaches must be differentiated and therefore so must be the educator evaluation process.

It's time to stop using a one-size-fits-all approach to teacher evaluations. Subject-specific teacher assessment looks deeper into the skill levels of what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides and opportunity for states and districts to rethink how they structure teacher professional learning in their schools. ESSA establishes professional learning as a collaborative activity integrated into the school day rather than work that is isolated from teaching.
